Did you know that a Queen Cell is different then a regular worker cell?  Luckey Bee Rescue and Relocation rescued a hive and found these queen cells.

Queen cells hang perpendicular to the comb.  You can see 2 queen cells in the picture above.

Queen cells are larger than worker or drone cells.

They are spacious and abnormally shaped.

Luckeybee_Queen CellSo, why does the hive make queen cells?  When a hive/colony reaches a critical size workers produce queen cells.  Bees are so cool!
