Did you know that a Queen Cell is different then a regular worker cell? Luckey Bee Rescue and Relocation rescued a hive and found these queen cells.
Queen cells hang perpendicular to the comb. You can see 2 queen cells in the picture above.
Queen cells are larger than worker or drone cells.
They are spacious and abnormally shaped.
Here is another queen cell.
So, why does the hive make queen cells? When a hive/colony reaches a critical size workers produce queen cells. Bees are so cool!
