Bee Rescue and Relocation (PART 1)

Bees never cease to amaze me. We were called out for a bee removal and relocation service. Although not the largest hive I have had the pleasure of encountering, this hive was impressive none the less. These particular bees had been in place for three to four years, the owners informed me. The bees started their hive in the hollow of a tree. As the bee hive grew, they needed more space. As you can see in the pictures, they decided to build on the exterior of the tree. The honey comb was built vertically up, resembling a stalagmite. The bee hive was entangled in the tree limbs a little bit, but for the most part was supporting itself. The bees’ ingenuity astounds me.
